Southside Water Reclamation Plant

The Southside Water Reclamation Plant (SWRP) is situated on a 100-acre site at 4201 Second Street SW in Albuquerque. It is the largest wastewater treatment facility in New Mexico.SWRP serves the entire Albuquerque and Bernalillo County area. In 1994, SWRP was upgraded to meet more stringent treatment requirements based on water quality regulations in New Mexico and Isleta Pueblo. The Nitrogen Removal Project, this $60 million program was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The project enabled the City to meet the new standards for ammonia and nitrate.
